From a Timer Junkie- This one beats all!
I LOVE this timer! I usually come to Amazon to shop, but today I came just to review this great timer and to ask the manufacturer to please make another one with 10, 20, and 45 minute settings. How wonderful to find that they've been listening to their customers and have already released several new versions! I will be ordering the yellow one (5, 10, 20 & 45 minutes) as soon as I'm done writing this review. We've been using this original, white version 2-5 times per day for more than two years. It has never once failed, and I can only recall changing the batteries twice. (Eneloop rechargeables work great with this timer, for anyone who cares.) I have 2 Polder digitals and several other timers, not to mention the timers on my phone and Kindle. This one beats them all! Why get this instead of something digital or an old-school rotary timer? 1) How many times have I set my digital timer and pushed start only to come back later and find that I'd either not hit start hard enough, or that I'd inadvertently hit it twice and turned it off? (Children, especially, are great at accidentally hitting start two or three times.) 2) Yes, you can get ticking countdown timers from the dollar store (and even high end cooking stores) but let's face it- they most often do but don't always DING! For whatever reason they sometimes just tick tick tick down to zero and stop. Silently. If you're toasting nuts or broiling something or poaching an egg that can be disastrous. 3) My kids were little and not really familiar with numbers over 10 when I bought this timer. Within two days they learned to recognize the numbers 5, 15, 30, etc. and to associate those numbers with the general feeling of how long those time increments actually are. 4) School work, cleaning, various work tasks... I can't explain why, but timers are motivating. And they're even more motivating when a 4-year-old can set them all by himself like a big boy and start his chores without mommy's help. 5) Excellent for cooking. I can set this if my hands are wet, covered in flour, oil, whatever... I can easily maneuver it with my wrists instead of having to stop and wash & dry my hands just so I can press buttons. If I'm dredging fish to fry and have batter all over my hands I can still time the pieces I've just dropped in to the oil. 6) This timer is great while gardening, doing home repairs or virtually anything that occupies both hands. I can hold a cat in one hand, a brush in the other, and still keep up with the cookies baking in the oven by tipping it with my feet! Only drawback- It's not the loudest timer in the world. I can hear it from anywhere inside my 1100 square foot house, but I probably wouldn't if it were outside or in the garage. If you are hearing impaired or are dealing with more square footage you might want multiple timers and/or something louder. Personally, I'm glad it's not overly loud and obnoxious since we have several loud cats and two boisterous young boys!

This cube might save your life
I love this thing!!!!!!!! Sooooooooo simple and perfect to use. I'm a writer, which not only means I'm sitting on my a** all day, but also that I get totally lost in my head and completely lose track of time while at the computer. (Random digression: one of my kiddos asked me for something the other day while I was writing, and when I told him "5 minutes" he asked, "5 real minutes or 5 mommy minutes?" ... which apparently is like dog years, but in reverse, and roughly equates to an hour later and/or whenever I'm done with the current scene ... note, this is NOT a fault of the timer, LOL! In fact, I don't even use the 5 minute side, instead...) I primarily use the 30 min timer as a reminder to get out of my chair and move for a few minutes so my body doesn't completely atrophy and turn into a pile of primordial goo--because my bestie saw this thing on {CNN? YouTube? An episode of RuPaul's Drag Race? Ok, probably not that last one... idr where he saw/read/heard it... unimportant... moving on...} that basically said sitting will KILL YOU if you don't move at least every 30 minutes, which is arguably both worse and less gross than dissolving into a lump of Jabba the Hutt-esque sludge--and uh, where was I going with this? (Note to self, rambling 6 a.m. reviews thumb-pecked out on my phone with no editor and not enough sleep will not necessarily be either articulate or helpful to other buyers) ... anyway, steering things back to the wonder of this little cube that I adore: a) I'm always shocked how fast 30 minutes goes by, and b) I used to try to accomplish the same 30 minute reminder thing with an online, onscreen, pop-up timer, but THAT method took way too many clicks to reset and also involved hopping tabs on my browser, all of which allowed for the potential of accidentally falling down an Internet rabbit hole of distraction and losing far, far more than 30 minutes (and I'm not just talking time... I've lost story-threads, my good spirits, my sanity, and entire trains of thought down those rabbit holes. Thankfully, though, I've yet to lose my soul, my belief in humanity, or any small children) ... but back to THIS WONDER CUBE: can confirm, no rabbit-hole danger in the simple act of flipping it back over. So easy! So quick! So likely to save you from the potential of death-by-the-slow-but-inevitable-slide-into-sedentary-sloth-and-sorrow if you sit at a desk all day! 10/10 would recommend! ☆☆☆☆☆

Perfect nap timer
I love this timer. Looking at the photos and description, it looks a little gimmicky; but once you get it in your hands, it makes you want to use it. It's really easy to set; and when it wakes me from a quick nap, I can just flip it over to another side and get in a few more minutes (like hitting a "snooze" button). With a regular timer, I would just shut it off, fall back asleep, and not have an alarm to wake me anymore. With this one, that never happens any more. You can also flip it over and then immediately flip it back to the same side it had been on, to double the original time. It's also a great size & shape -- easy to reach out & flip it (or shut it off) without even looking. And on top of its awesome functionality, it looks good enough to leave out on a table (although people WILL play with it when they see it). The only thing I don't like is that the time options are very limited. I wish that the top had an additional time setting instead of "0" -- especially since the bottom is essentially another "0", and I tend to turn the switch off when it's not in use (making "0" unnecessary). When I bought this timer, I did not see any other similar ones; but now that I see that there are other models with different time options, I will probably get one of those (and continue to use the first one as well). The best thing about this timer is that it actually gets used. I have a pile of others that I've tried in the past, but they all end up sitting buried in a drawer. This one stays readily available, and is so simple that using it is almost easier than not using it.

Funciona perfecto. Muy útil para juegos, gimnasia y para que los niños aprendan a administrar el tiempo. Solo cambiaría el timbre de la alarma a algo menos percutivo.

I have using this cube now for over 2 months and its perfect. Slightly pricy but good quality compared to one I purchased after this one. A must have!!

These timers are so ultra easy, I've started using them for all sorts of things, although I bought them to get my Tweens out of the shower (and that has worked).
