I'm writing this in December 2018 and bought it back in 2014. I was recommending a deck box to a friend and looked up the one we bought on Amazon. I couldn't believe it was 4 years ago! I figured I've got to write a review because it's been a fantastic item and is as good as new 4 years later. The deck box came with all the necessary parts and pieces and easy to follow instructions. It was like a snap-together toy for adults and putting it together was straightforward and satisfying (you feel like you "built" something while all you did was an adult-sized snap-together project LOL!). The quality of this deck box is superb. It has held up to North-East coastal weather extremes - snow, sleet, ice and rain in the winter and heat, sun and humidity in the summer (we're a little over a mile off the coast). It sits outdoors on a porch and keeps everything inside it nice and dry. Our deck box gets a lot of use, is opened and closed daily and has held up really well. It has these sturdy plastic strips inside the lid that keeps the lid from opening too far and falling backwards. They serve a great function and have held up nicely as well. The basket weave pattern is pleasant and classy. It does not look cheap at all, which it easily could have. The brown color (they call it "mocha") is a dark brown color that goes well with a brick and concrete porch. It looks and functions exactly as it did the day we put it together which is simply fantastic. I highly recommend this to anyone considering a deck box.

I did some research and found this box to be the best value and just the right size. I have this on my front porch to accept deliveries so that passers by are not tempted to grab my packages. I buy almost all my stuff online and needed a big enough box for all those Amazon packages. It is very easy to assemble as long as you follow the simple instructions. It was tempting to just go for it and not read the instructions but I read that some people jumped the gun and ended up snapping together the sides before the bottom and were screwed (hehe you know who you are). It took about 15 minutes to assemble and is very sturdy. It is slightly raised off the ground so that it is not sitting in water if it rains. You can sit on it even though the lid is slightly curved to keep water from settling on top. It also has a metal latch you can add a lock to it although a small opening would only allow a luggage lock. I did not want wood as it would rot and I did not want something that looked cheap, this box fit the bill nicely. It is plastic but the weave from a distance is good enough that it does not look like a cheap plastic box. For the price and size, this is hard to beat. I am very happy with the purchase and would buy again.

I have 2 other Suncast storage boxes and this one is also well made. It was easy to assemble, and all parts fit well. High quality. My only concern is the thin straps that hold the lid open. I wonder if they'll dry out and become brittle from the heat in Arizona.

I am so pleased with this deck box, and with the price, also, which was less than any I've seen in Lowe's or Home Depot (haven't actually seen this exact model, and most that I have found are not nearly as attractive and are considerably more costly). I ordered the smaller of the two sizes, which turns out to be quite ample for holding all my pool supplies, and then some! Assembly was a breeze, and I was able to do it without assistance. It is light enough to then move into place from the place on my deck where I assembled it. It has been there ever since, which is now about 5-6 months. While I wouldn't be expecting people to sit on it on a regular basis, I notice that it easily accommodates my 150-pound frame. We had quite a bit of wind and rain here in NJ with hurricane Sandy, and my deck box remained dry, stationary, and undisturbed in any way. The top locks securely and all the contents have remained clean and dry. It will be interesting to see how well the dark brown coloring weathers a winter or two, but so far this delightful deck box looks terrific and I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase. Update: The above review was written several years ago. Now, in Feb 2020, I've owned it for about 8 years, and it is still both functional and presentable in appearance. I highly recommend the Suncast Deck Box if you're looking for a product that will look good, last long, and do what it's supposed to do - keep contents secure and dry! Kudos to the Suncast company for creating a great product.

I ordered this deck box to store seasonal decorations and tools that I use in my front yard and on the front porch. It holds so much! It really is waterproof and looks great! It's sturdy, the pieces fit together perfectly and it has stood up to several Pacific Northwest rain storms - keeping the contents totally dry. I have dark brown 'wicker' furniture on my deck and this goes very nicely with that. It's definitely sturdy enough for an above average weight adult, (over 200 lbs), or two average sized teenagers, to sit on safely and comfortably. I will be ordering a second deck box for my back yard to hold bar-b-que tools, outdoor dishes, etc., and also for extra seating. I ordered a much smaller version of this for our front porch, to hold shoes and it also looks great although the sides don't come together quite as tightly as they do on this 73 gallon version - no leaks so far on that one either. In summary, it looks great, functions great and the price is great. Fast, free delivery and easy to assemble - you need two people to put it together just to hold the pieces in proper alignment. This Suncast patio trunk is good looking and very sturdy and well made. Easy to assemble and made in the good old USA!

Love this! Keeps our deck organized while hiding all the misc stuff we need to keep close by but don’t want laying around for everyone to see!
