In Norse mythology, the hammer belonged to Thor, the Norse God of thunder. The Elder Futhark runes on the pendant read from right to left: MJOLNIR, (mo-yol-nir) the name of Thor's hammer. Mjolnir is commonly thought to mean "That which smashes". Wearing Thor's Hammer is an expression of strength and determination. This Thor's Hammer pendant is in white finished bronze. The hammer measures 31.8 mm (1 1/4") long, 22.8 mm (just over 7/8") wide at the runes and 5.8 mm (just under 1/4") wide at the narrowest part of the handle. The hammer of Thor weighs approximately 5 grams in bronze. The back of the pendant is carved out to reduce weight.
