As the vendor said... 8cm, or 3-1/8 inches. As the vendor didn't say... not an ordinary jar of pickles, which is about 9cm or 3-1/2 inches. Not a jar of roasted pepper appetizer. Not a standard Mason jar. Basically, you hang this in your kitchen for decoration and use a grippy-pad for actually opening stuff.

Is this dishwasher safe?

Yes it’s coated with a quality rubberized coating to grip the jars which is dishwasher safe.

Will this open pull tab pet cans?

Yes, the smaller item in this kit has a slot at its end. Slide the slot over the pet can pull tab and rotate the item up which "pops" the pull tab. You then must still use a finger to pull the tab to completely remove the can lid. There are, however, much better assisting products that are specifically designed to use with pet can lids.
