Product ID: 128393266
This guidebook is an ideal companion for motorists who want to tour Zakynthos by car, as well as those planning a holiday walking in Zakynthos. The book combines the best features of Sunflower's 'Landscapes' walking and car touring guides with all the detail you would expect in a hefty general guide. Coverage includes: getting there and getting about recommended accommodation and restaurants practicalities A-Z things like opening times, tipping, pharmacies, etc 22 main walks with many variations, all with both charmingly drawn 3D and GPS-compatible maps 4 car tours with accompanying area maps 2-sided fold-out GPS-compatible island map notes on customs, geology, flora and fauna (illustrated with 100s of photographs) history plan of Zakynthos town downloadable GPS waypoints and intermediate coordinates online update service Although this is a general guide to the island, there is special emphasis on the countryside and the National Marine Park (where the author works for the protection of sea turtles), about which there is copious information. Even non-walkers will appreciate the walking sections: while the walk descriptions themselves are brief, each walk is followed by two facing pages focussing on the island's customs, geology, habitats, agriculture, flora and wildlife with hundreds of illustrations. Review: Beautiful book - exactly what I wanted, information on the flora, fauna, history, culture, some tourist bits (accommodation and restaraunts) but not over the top, like some more well known publishers Review: Where the best views can be found and great nuggets of interesting info. - This was a useful little book to direct us to some interesting places in our hire car and on foot. I found it all very accurate in terms of clear maps and info. The only time it was incorrect was in stating there was no charge to enter the vemetian fortress at Bochali. Its now 4 euros per person. Excellent guide book

Best Guide
I spent ages trying to find a decent guide to Zante (Zakynthos) as most of them were just for the Greek Islands or Ionian Islands. This book is one of the best guides I have purchased, as it is full of interesting information and gives tours of the island, whether you are on foot or driving around. The photos are excellent quality too. I would certainly recommend this to anyone looking for a book about this beautiful island

Good for local maps
Lots of interesting and drawn maps detailing local walks, not much information on the big tourist areas or how to get there etc, I think this books needs supplementing with a LP or DK tour guide.

brilliant book
This book is the best guide of Zakynthos that I have ever read and I have read many. It is informative from every aspect and exactly what anyone wanting to learn about the beautiful island of Zakynthos should be looking for. I have nothing but admiration for the author, Gail Schofield for the way she has put this book together. I will certainly be looking for more of her books.
