Q: Are the temperature settings odd? For the lowest setting a ‘I’ then II, III, IIII. What’s the setting that has lines of diff sizes and the star for?

The star is for frost protection only, the rest is 1,2,3,4…. to set the thermostat to the required heat output.

Q: Is this compatible with Tado smart radiator thermostat?

Sorry I don't no , I bought these because they were compatible with an older radiator.
