Works great and is tough
I use this for and a construction job and it rides in the back of a pick up truck. It’s self calibrates when I pull it out and does its job correctly when I need it.

If you need it, it pays for itself easily.
I use this commercially for landscaping and grading work. It has the quality and ease of use you expect from Bosch. Its level is true at distance which is expected but also great. The case is nice and durable and the tripod is heavy duty. I would buy this again for sure. Worth every penny. The receiver picks up the laser very easily.

What An Amazing Tool!
Grading a shop/garage pad and this thing has made it so simple. Comparative measurements are easy. The target works well in daylight even though your eyes cannot see the red laser. Nice loud beep tone. I went through the set-up "adjustment" phase (simply rotating the head 180 and then 90 to compare measurements): It was nearly dead on. For grading use, this thing is within 1/4 inch over 100 feet. And, it runs forever on two D-cells. I lucked out and got a mint reman unit for about $60 less which works perfectly. Nice big storage case too. Will come in handy when installing plumbing and power lines in shop. So glad I have it now.

Good Purchase
Should have bought this years ago - nice unit for the price. Wish they had a bag or case for the rod and tripod with it. Case for head and accessories is solid.

How did I live without this?
Note: This DOES come with a very nice hard case. No idea why it isn’t shown in the pictures or mentioned in the description. I almost didn’t buy this just because I thought it didn’t come with a case. I started out trying to use just a cheap laser level, it was so cheap I always had trouble trusting its accuracy, but it was that or putting a 4 foot bubble level on a 2X4 to put in my septic system and pour concrete for my workshop. It was a huge pain, I didn’t have a detector and you can’t see the laser light on any of these out doors in the daytime so I was stuck waiting till night time to do my layout work, using a flashlight to see what I was doing, and a stick with a Sharpie to mark on it as my grade rod. It was cheap, it was a huge pain, but it did get the job done. When it came time to begin building my house I decided I wasn’t even going to attempt doing it like I was. Time to shell out the money for the right tool for the job. I didn’t want to go too cheap or I’d have trouble trusting it, and I wanted it to last at least long enough to survive till completion. I didn’t want to buy something insanely high priced high end, it would probably be packed full of features I’d never use. This one fit the bill of being middle of the line priced, and at an accuracy of only +/- 1/8” at 100’ it was obviously better than other similar priced models. I also liked auto self leveling in both horizontal and vertical use, other options in this price range only had self leveling in horizontal, manual leveling vertical, so your vertical accuracy is going to be limited by how well you can set a leveling bubble, allowing for a huge margin of error past 10 feet and nearly impossible consistency. Another reason I picked this model was the electronic leveling. Other models at this price point have an internal physical moving pendulum, moving parts are prone to breaking and failing and can’t possibly hold up as well to accidental rough handling. I actually ordered the 900 model, it had better accuracy than the 800 model plus a stronger more powerful class laser, despite both of them providing more distance than I’ll ever use. I didn’t get the 1000 model because in all the specs there was absolutely no difference at all between the 900 and the 1000. I even called Bosch technical support to ask what the difference was, it wasn’t very reassuring when the factory tech support also had no idea what the difference was between the 900 and 1000, he put me on hold to ask and apparently everyone he asked didn’t know either. He guessed the 800, 900, 1000… numbers in the model designate its working distance, but got stumped when I pointed out according to the published specs both have a working range of 1000’ with the LR10 detector, 200’ without, both models also utilize the same exact laser, so how could 1 reach an extra 100 feet over the other? We may never know. The LR10 receiver that comes with the 900 and 1000 specs also state it only has a working distance of 500 feet on Bosch’s website. If the laser only works for 200 feet without the detector, and the detector only works at 500 feet then how are they claiming this unit works at 1000 feet, the math doesn’t add up, how are you getting that extra 500 feet, a fairly significant distance, twice what the specs claim??? Like I said, I personally never plan to use it over maybe 200’, but if you’re buying this because you actually need that full 1000 foot range then I’d question the specs and claims a little deeper. As far as using this, its super easy, pretty much self explanatory and fool proof. The printed instructions are probably handy, but the print is so light and so small it can’t be read by human eyes. Over all I’m very happy with it, my research and my decision to buy this particular model. It feels like its nice enough quality that if it fell off the roof it would probably survive, hopefully I’ll never have to find out, all the same I’ll still treat it as a delicate, sensitive, precision scientific instrument. P.S. To the people complaining in the reviews that you can’t see the laser in the daylight, that’s typical for all lasers, this is why they have the laser receiver/detector. Even if you bought a $5000 top of the line model you still aren’t going to visually see the laser at any distance in the daylight, red or green laser, makes no difference, you won’t be able to see it unless you’re using it after sunset and before sun rise.

Great level
I have used this level on several jobs, this is such a great machine, I like how the case has spare battery slots so you are never out during a job, I use rechargable batteries.and I got a small charger that plugs into a USB, so I can charge in the truck if I need to. I wish the tripod and stick had a carrying bag for better transport, right now I put the stick between the legs so I can carry everything at once.

Better than the DeWalt
I'm a DeWalt guy but this laser from Bosch is a way better price, offers all the same features, but also comes with a remote, the ability to lay it on its side, and the point feature. Outstanding product from Bosch here and the accuracy has been dead on.

Just arrived today. The package is quite large, as it contains the heavy tripod, the collapsed 8-foot stick, and the carry case (approximately 'Carry-On' suitcase size) that holds everything else. System fired right up, and works fine. Manual is a bit awkward as the images and instruction text are pages apart, so one must constantly flip pages to see what they're referring to (using item reference numbers like "12b"). System is very well designed, with plenty of clever details. Vertical sensitivity of the receiver is amazing, indicating very tiny adjustments. Disclaimer: I'm just a DIY guy, not a professional surveyor. Crazy-low price was briefly offered, and I've always wanted one, so it was an impulse buy. But I do have several uses for it.

I like how quick and easy this was to setup. It was accurate even with my small backhoe and tamper operating 12ft away. It is perfect for small DIY jobs, or anything within 50ft. Price was right. I like the construction more than the pricier Spectra units as well... it just feels tougher
