Bird Decoy
I was skepticial about if these fake owls would keep the birds away. We hung 3 of them up in our tree and put one close to the porch. So far they appear to be doing the trick. The owls look realistic to me. Hopefully, the birds stay away.

Beautiful owl keeps the birds away!
Beautiful and life-like owl sculpture. We purchase this because we had birds flying in underarm covered patio and pooping all over our patio furniture. Now we have new birds visiting underneath our patio cover. It works like a charm. And I love that it's made in the USA! It is made of plastic resin - Just filled with some sand or dirt and it stays in place. I highly recommend this product!

Lifelike plastic owl
I have crazy birds literally trying to peck away and destroy my house. They have pecked multiple holes large enough for them to nest in. Nothing except sitting outside with a water spray bottle in hand seems to be able to keep them away.In that context, this owl seems to have deterred many of them. It certainly isn't the end-all solution but it has had an impact for sure.On the pros side it is lightweight and easy to move around, and also very lifelike so I feel like it is pretty effective for its intended purpose. On the cons side, because it is so light, it needs to be secured in place or the slightest breeze is sure to knock it over. That makes for a second downside because there is no provided mechanism for attaching it to anything. There is a slight indent underneath that could be used to set it atop a circular pillar or something, but no instructions were provided for how to do this. The best bet seems to be glue it down (which would reduce its effectiveness as instructions did say to move it every couple of days to make it seem more lifelike) or attach it impermanently with tape.Overall a 4 star item. Would be a 5 star if it came with instructions and hardware for mounting it, or was heavy enough to not topple over in the wind. But it gets the job done.

It works
Just realized we've had Hootie for six years! I don't even remember the original reason we got him, but it works. He scared away small birds from a strawberry patch last year. Yesterday I put him on a post to stop a chickadee that was pecking at some foam insulation we used to fill a hole in our siding where they nested last year. I chased it away but it kept coming back. Put Hootie to work and haven't seen it since. 🦉

Ineffective
Sturdy thick plastic. Only problem is, birds don’t care

Very good fix to keep the masses of bird poopers off your porch. Eyes fade after a few years.
I've had this now (2016) for a three years. This is a great cheap fix to keep the huge gangs of dirty bird pooping machines away from your deck. When most little birds see this, they fly away right away. Some birds will hang around for a short time, but you can tell they are nervous. The amount of bird poop on my porch wall is now considerably less. I have had this for several years and the body paint looks exactly the same. The eyes unfortunately have faded a bit (see pic). Unfortunately for my condo on the 18th floor, it only really works for a 10 foot length in front of the owl. Not all birds can see this on the back side and will sometimes stand close to it's back. I have now bought a second one and I have placed them with their backs facing each other to they cover a large area. For me, the birds come in seasons as they migrate north or south. There can be as much as 100 birds on my deck at one time without my owl friend. I filled mine with a bunch of coins and tied it down with shoelaces.3 year update: I added a second owl since I liked the first so much. Now it's obvious how much the eyes have faded. The pic I took was after I tried clean the old faded eyes. Next to the new one, there is a clear difference. The left eye is worse since it faces the sun more. If yours is in the shade, it may look better over the years. It still works, but I think the effectiveness have decreased a little. The paint actually looks changed very little over 3 years. The price is $5 more than 3 years ago and it's the same piece of painted plastic. I still give it 5 stars, but if the price keeps going up I might have to lower the rating to 4 stars since it would not be worth the money as much.

These Pigeons Must Die
So I recently moved into a new house. The house had been vacant for a couple of years and there is a family of pigeons that have been living here longer than I have. The problem is that I pay the rent, and the pigeons are pooping in my backyard, and they think the pool and hot tub are their own personal bird bath. What this boils down is essentially I am in the midst of bitter war with this pigeon family. I'm talking Hatfield-McCoy type war.I purchased this owl in the hopes it would be a deterrent and the pigeons would feel threatened and leave. I was very excited when it arrived this morning and hung it up immediately. Now let me tell you the quality of the owl is great. Life like, the eyes are creepy, I was sure it would do the trick. It is hanging and there is a nice breeze going today so the owl has movement. I have followed the suggestions and to no avail. Within a couple of hours the pigeons are back in their nest in my pine tree, maybe 20 ft from the owl and in direct eyeliner of the owl. These pigeons simply DNGAF. I started by shooting Nerf missiles at them, tried the owl. Neither option has worked. My next purchase from Amazon will be for BB guns with heavy metal bullets. I have reached a shoot to kill scenario here. These birds are ISIS and my yard and trees are American soil. This injustice can not and will not stand.Again, this owl is of a finely crafted quality. It's plastic, has a hole to fill it up for weight, and a hole to hang it. They eyes are life like. But if you are dealing with pigeons like mine then I suggest a better option for spending $12 would be to send it to me through PayPal and if you are in the Los Angeles area I will come over and shoot them with my soon to be purchased BB gun.
