Woulda been 5 stars, but . . .
We ordered a pair of these bulbs to retrofit the over-the-sink surface-mounted 12v ThinLine fluorescent fixture in our motor home. They arrived earlier than promised and were well-packaged. The light provided by these LED tubes is far better than that of the original fluorescent tubes they replaced, and the direction of the light can be rotated to accommodate the preference of the user.Installation required (1) verifying that the fixture was a 12v; (2) removing the fixture; (3) bypassing/removing the ballast; (4) re-wiring the fixture to provide power directly to the sockets; and (5) reinstalling the fixture and installing the LED tube lamps in it. The installation was fairly straightforward, once we had ferreted out the necessary steps and determined that they did, in fact, apply to these tube lamps. And therein lies the explanation for the missing fifth star in this review. The instructions emailed by the seller and those enclosed with the product are confusing and, at times, contradictory. There are better ones on YouTube, but to make use of those you need to know that this tube lamp contains its own LED driver, so no external driver is necessary.Bottom line: Well worth the money. We've ordered another pair to upgrade another of our old 12v fluorescent fixtures.

Clean and Bright, just like the song.
FANTASTIC amount of light. Replaced the 12v. fluorescent tubes in the RV with these. Wiring Notes: the pins on each end are tied together, so you can wire to either (or both, if you want to use both contacts for reliability). Very happy with the purchase, and they are probably even brighter than the tubes they replaced. Seem to be well constructed, and fill an important niche market for us RV owners. Wiring Process: Remove the fixture, discard the old tubes, remove the ballast cover and discard the ballast (mine died) by cutting the wires at the ballast - gives you lots of wire to work with, though you'll end up removing most of the wiring. Use a marker to identify one of the fixture ends as +12v (for tube polarity - since it now matters which end is which). At the +12v marked end, connect the +12v wire to each tube (either connector). At the unmarked end (ground), connect the ground wire to each tube (either connector). It was very easy to wire up.

Buy them, you won't regret it. A little pricey but so are all of the other LED's out there. BRIGHT!!!
I bought these for my RV and I am glad I did. These little suckers are bright and no more flickering. They fixture does need to be modified but it was pretty easy. They are pretty white but so are the ones I replaced. These are a positive/negative tube unlike the old fluorescent tubes that came with the fixture. You have to bypass and or remove the ballast which takes about 15 minutes the 1st time but 5 minutes after you get the hang of it.Last year I replaced all of my incandescent bulbs with led's. I have about 15 of them that I changed out and they are awesome. The fluorescent fixture was the only one I didn't do. It uses about the same power consumption as all of my other bulbs combined so I only used it briefly and usually when plugged in or in the middle of the day when solar was at its best.

Half the power with more light, but kills the radio.
One of the 1st upgrades we made to our camper was to replace all the battery killing incandescent lights with Thin-Lite fluorescents. Lately, one of them has gone intermittent, so I was searching Amazon for a replacement inverter/ballast and found this instead. Cheaper than the replacement ballast and half the power (I measured it) than the fluorescent while putting out more light. Can't say much about longevity yet, but if this one lasts I'll be buying more. It requires bypassing the ballast and connecting DC directly to the pin sockets.Update: Dropping my score due to radio interference. I'm trying some ferrite cores with a little success, but the fluorescents are still much quieter. This is fine for use with the radio off. A better choice might be https://store.marinebeam.com/12-f8t5-led-tube-for-fluorescent-fixtures-fl-t5-66/?gclid=COiA4ebI2ckCFYQlgQod508BhQ, but twice the price.

The only thing that some may not like is that looking at the light from far edge ...
This bulb has been used many hours and no problems. The light is far brighter than the old florescent style. The only thing that some may not like is that looking at the light from far edge of vision, I can see the led firing or pulsing. But this is only a side view event. The bulb is in a fixture above our heads so this is not a problem for us. I will be replacing two other flourescents when those bulbs fail with this one.

Lots of light
These work great in the bathroom fixture in our motorhome. I had to rewire the fixture so that 12-volts goes directly to the LED tubes. This is straightforward and the instructions are included. I just left the old circuitry in the fixture (disconnected) because it looked like it would be a pain to remove.

Not a Star Wars Light saber!
This is NOT a Star Wars light saber. It might have something to do with Star Trek, which is an abomination. Seems there are a lot of items out there with the well known "F8T5" designation. Lucas would be rolling over in his grave. Glad he is not here to see this.

Great to get rid of the flouresent bulb
Very happy with these. Used to replace fluorescent bulbs on one of our catamarans. No difficulty adjusting the wiring (eliminating the ballast). Have already purchased additional bulbs, sine this first single purchase was a test. Will update if we have any issues.
