Anastasia Beverly Hills - Clear Brow Gel

I’ve tried a lot of brow gels, but the Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel is still the best one I’ve used. It really holds my brows in place all day without making them stiff or flaky. The formula is lightweight, dries quickly, and gives a clean, polished look that lasts through heat and humidity. The brush is the perfect size — it coats every hair evenly without clumping or smudging my makeup. I also love that it doesn’t leave any white residue or shine, which can happen with some other clear gels. A little goes a long way, so the tube lasts for months even with daily use. It’s perfect on its own for natural days or as a finishing step after filling in brows. Overall: Totally worth the price! It keeps brows looking neat and defined without that “crunchy” feeling.

I have huge, thick, dark eyebrows on otherwise pretty pale skin (think Emilia Clarke). When I was a kid, I accidentally shaved half of one off, so my left eyebrow has one small section of hair that stands pretty much vertically where all of the rest of my brow hair, on both sides, is perfectly horizontal. I've tweezed for years but it's always been a challenge, time-consuming and it doesn't take long for them to grow back in just as stubbornly. This is the first product that has helped me combat that cowlick-y, stubborn section! Here's what I ended up doing that worked for me: 1. I first tried the gel by itself, straight out of the bottle. You could tell that there was product on the brush, WHICH, by the way, I absolutely love the shape of - easy to roll and work with to get your whole brow! It gave me a beautiful smoothing and almost glossy effect on the normal brow, but did nothing for its eyebrow "cousin". Go figure. 2. Inspired and not deterred, I took a little bit of my favorite high-hold hairspray (TGI's BedHead) and, wincing the whole time, sprayed it onto the applicator brush, then dipped that in a bit more of the gel product, hoping it would give it a bit of a firmer hold. LO AND BEHOLD, THAT WORKED A CHARM FOR THE LITTLE STUBBORN BUGGERS! They still weren't TOTALLY flat, but they were flatter enough that I could see where this was going! 3. With the brows combed and semi-flattened into submission, I felt like I was able to see where they needed shaping MUCH more easily. My brows are also normally soft, fine and very slippery - the gel plus hairspray combo gave them a bit of stiffer "hold" and allowed me to grip and pluck the clear offenders faster too. 4. My eyebrows were nearly perfect - but I was still bothered by the way that some of the taller, tree-trunk thick hairs from the section I had accidentally shaved in childhood (why, ten-year-old me, why!?). I used some fine eyebrow scissors from the drugstore and, very very carefully, cut maybe an 1/8th of an inch (or less!) off each of the hairs that were standing up vertically. That gave me the perfect depth of eyebrow, but unfortunately since that section is also sparser than its neighbors, that section appeared a little bit thinner (as if it had been over-plucked) once I'd trimmed it to a more appropriate depth. HOWEVER... 5. With the topcoat beginning to set and dry into a nice firm hold, it was SHOCKINGLY easy for me to use a softish brow pencil to fill in just that one little area that appeared too sparse. Don't be fooled - this will not give you THE ultimate brows without a sculptor's eye for balance and some extra work, but the final result is worth the effort spent! You're still going to need to wax or tweeze (sorry) and you're still going to need to have a firm, clear idea of what shape you WANT your brows to be in, but this product helped me corral the wayward strays in a very effective and not too time-consuming way. Hours later, they are still holding up and looking great, pencil and all (I think the gel may also have something of a fixative agent to help set the color). I am now obsessed. I'm gently petting my eyebrows, slowly and oh-so-satisfied, as a movie villain would pet his evil cat in his lap - and despite this, they still look awesome at the end of my workday. I've always been so self-conscious about my caveman brows, and with only 30-40 minutes or so, I suddenly have the beautiful, natural-looking, Audrey Hepburn brows of my wildest dreams. I am so happy!!!
