Does this item have an inkling edge to prevent ink from flowing underneath or slight bumps to raise it from the surface?

My daughter says" It's just flat and not made to be used with ink".

Does it have a bevelled edge on the underside to prevent ink from seeing under the device?

In the good old pre-cad days we used to tape pennies on the underside to raise triangle and prevent capillary action with ink.
