What is Matcha?
Matcha is a super hero amongst teas. 100% green tea leaves from
Japan - essentially a super power green tea containing natural
green tea flavonoids (catechins). Drinking matcha can be like
drinking 10 cups of regular green tea for its ent value -
that's why we call it super power green POW!
Why Teapigs Matcha?
Teapigs matcha comes from the renowned Nishio region in Japan,
where the tea leaves are grown under cover to produce lots of
amino s and chlorophyll (the bright green good stuff). The
leaves are then dried and very slowly ground by granite to a very
fine powder, which is then packed and sealed immediately, so as
to lock all the ents in. It's been a ceremonial beverage
drunk by Buddhist monks and royalty for over 900 years. But you
needn't feel foolish about the fact you've never heard of it
before as, until now, virtually all matcha has been consumed
within Japan. How do I drink it?
Matcha is traditionally drunk as a hot tea whisked into hot
water using a bamboo whisk, but if that’s a bit full-on for you,
fear not, there are lots of other ways to enjoy matcha. A few of
our favourites include whisking it in to juices or smoothies or
making it up as a yummy matcha latte (almond and oat milk are our
current faves). Our tip for avoiding lumps – whisk into a small
a of liquid first! The best thing about matcha? Other than
the fact it’s bright, bright green – is its versatility! Because
it’s a fine powder, there are lots of ways to get your fix. All
you need is ½ teaspoon of matcha (or one of our pre-portioned
matcha sachets) a day to reap all the lovely benefits

How does it taste?
With water - like a super-power green tea brew. With juice/milk -
a hint of delicate green tea flavour.
Good if you're feeling:
Blobby and slobby - this super-power brew is the answer to all
muffin-top, couch potato-related concerns.
How we like it:
Our way - the teapigs . All you need is 1g of matcha and
approx. 30ml water/juice/milk. Put the matcha in a glass, cover
with the liquid, whisk rapidly. Knock it back.
We would suggest using 80 degree water - green tea can be
damaged with boiling water and can give it a bitter taste. If you
don't have a fancy kettle or thermometer to hand, grabbing the
kettle just before it boils will do the trick!.
